Galtaji, Jaipur

This is not among the more popular tourist places in Jaipur. It is more of a pilgrim place, and a favourite among locals. Since we visited Jaipur as guests of a local family, they decided to give us a tour of the city... or rather; to places that they thought, we would enjoy seeing the most. First on their list was the temple of Galtaji. Honestly, I had no idea such a temple existed. In fact, I had never thought that I would visit temples while in Jaipur!! However, this temple turned out to be a surprise in more ways than one!

Sons of Thunder: A Motorcycling Anthology - Book Review

Driving is not one of my passions, and motorcycles and I have no connection whatsoever. The nearest I have come to motorcycles is riding pillion with a couple of my cousins, and those opportunities were few and far between. Of the Bajaj scooter though, I have loads of memories.... again, not of driving, but of being driven... When I got the book ‘Sons of Thunder – A motorcycle anthology’ for review, I must admit, I hesitated for a while. Would I be able to enjoy a book that dealt with something I wasn’t really keen on? Would I be even able to complete reading it? But I was also curious. Here was a book solely about motorcycles.... how much could you write about them? So, I laid aside my inhibitions and decided to go ahead and find out just what 26 authors had to write about motorcycles!

Mahabaleshwar

As trips go, the unplanned ones usually turn out to be the most fun, and our trip to Mahabaleshwar was no different. Looking back, it seems unbelievable that we went at all! The visit was a short one, but we managed to pack quite a bit into the time we had, but what was really memorable was the heavy rain which dominated our stay at the hill station. I have been to Mahabaleshwar before, but never in the monsoon, and the season certainly added an extra bit of gloss to the entire trip!

The Venna Lake is the highlight of Mahabaleshwar. I remember going boating on the lake on my first visit there, and it is usually packed with tourists... so packed that the last time I was there, we had to give boating a skip since the queue seemed to be never-ending! And here is my favourite photo of this trip - the Venna Lake in the monsoon! It was amazing how the clouds and the water seemed to merge....

That was just a glimpse of our trip. Read a more detailed account on my post on the Club Mahindra Blog....

Mountains, Rivers, and lots of clouds...

These are what have been keeping me away......

August has been a month with many holidays... and all arrived on weekends, giving us some time to actually get away somewhere... First, off we went to Mahabaleshwar, .. and then this last weekend, we spent at Nashik.

The Western Ghats in the monsoons are a spectacular sight, and the rains, clouds and fog simply made the trip unforgettable! There are lots of posts coming up, so keep your eyes peeled!

Colours Of My Travels

Typing with one finger bandaged is not easy. I feel like I am going back to those days when I had to type with one hand, searching for the letters! Which is why I havent been able to post often.... and posting only photos gets boring after a while... So, when I saw that Deepak had tagged me on his post, I was actually happy to pick up the tag and do a post...  I am one of those who never knows what to write or post when tagged... and usually end up forgetting about it, but this one was about photography, and I have so many on my comp that it was actually a great chance to use some of them!

So, getting to the post, this is my entry for the Capture the colour contest held by TravelSupermarket.com.. The challenge is post photos that capture the 5 colours - Yellow, Red, Blue, Green and White. I have chosen to post photos of places I havnet yet written about on the blog.....

Yellow -
Yellow reminded me of the sun... and I had many photos of the sun clicked at various times and places... But when I saw this photo, it erased all other thoughts.....
